The Magnum Opus Fund

TIFF is accepting ‘designated’ donations for the research and medical advancements in the disease called Inflammatory Polyneuropathy. This condition has only been recently diagnosed in cats.

Very little is known about this disease except, that you have to do every other imaginable test to rule that out, and if everything else is negative, then it is presumed to be polyneuropathy.

What is known about polyneuropathy is that it affects all breeds of cats. Most cases seems to be triggered by some other event in the cat’s life. The most commonly documented event is vaccination or surgery. The Bengal breed has been the most commonly diagnosed breed -- credited to the fact that the Bengals are so costly and therefore Bengal owners tend to spend more in their cat’s medical diagnosis. Since it costs thousands to diagnose and rule out everything else, it is a difficult and daunting task for most owners. Yet, with medical care there has been a growing number of cats that have made it through the rough times, bounced back and gone on to live a rather normal life. However, most cats with this disease end up being euthanized for lack of proper medical diagnosis and care.

If you would like to help with research on Inflammatory Polyneuropathy, then consider making a contribution today. If you are a U.S. citizen, your contribution is tax deductible as a non-profit, charitable donation as recognized by the United States Internal Revenue Service.
